Christ Junior College forged its distinct identity as a separate institution delivering the Pre-University Course offered by Department of Pre-University Education of Karnataka exactly sixteen years ago in 2002. Its inception was primarily an outcome of the state policy of bifurcation of Pre-university courses from degree colleges, such as Christ Junior College’s parent institution, the then Christ College, which was established back in 1969. Over the years, Christ Junior College has built on the tradition and culture that it had inherited from Christ College, which had in fact offered the Pre-University Course from its inception itself.

What distinguishes Christ Junior College from its peers in the pre-university education is its focus on academic intellectual competence development complemented by life skills growth in a learning ecosystem that facilitates student leadership and initiative. Its success is borne by its consistent ability to produce high scorers, in the state in the Annual Board Examinations, its consistent march towards centum pass percentage, in the Annual Board Examinations. The commendable performance of its students in sports, at state and national level and the culture of achievement that it has induced in its student community as manifested by its successes in debates and Model United Nations Conferences at national and international level.

The student community also appreciates its role in society and actively takes up awareness programmes to make contributions to national development, especially through the activities of Eco-club, Centre for Social Action and National Cadet Corps. At present, it has 2760 students on its rolls pursuing courses in Science, Commerce and Social Sciences stream. Students also have the option of pursuing the value added programmes offered by the college after the regular hours.

There are training programmes offered for theatre, communication skills, robotics, music etc. and opportunities for international exposure through the International Gateway Programmes to Sweden, Germany and Switzerland.

Indeed, all its efforts are channelized to deliver quality education as envisaged in the vision of the institution – Excellence and Service.

CHRIST P.U. COLLEGE – EVENING

Christ P.U College-Evening is another chapter in the efforts of Christ Education Society towards education and holistic development of young minds. Deeply rooted in the tradition of excellence and service.

This institution of learning aspires to meet the educational needs of not only the economically backward youth but the society as a whole. The highly disciplined and clean campus provides the right atmosphere for systematic learning. Giving maximum importance to quality education, Christ P.U College – Evening, makes professionals out of its students by equipping them with the required skill-sets.

Christ P.U College-Evening commenced its journey in 2005 with only 47 students with an aim to reach out to those who for different reasons could not pursue their education as day scholars. Christ P.U College- Evening, thus, makes education accessible to those who are denied it due to their personal constraints and brings them back to the mainstream. In its 10 years of noble service, the student’s strength has grown to 526 altogether. Students of all caste, creed and language make this college their ‘home away from home’ enjoying the campus life in harmony. The student community is comprised not only from the state but also from all over India apart from a few students from South Asian countries.
