Renewed and Reiterated

The renewal programme for the scholastics of Dharmaram was conducted from 7 to 9 December, 2012. It was held in a very prayerful atmosphere. The renewal began with Eucharistic adoration on 7th Friday evening. Fr. Rector, an acclaimed person in the field of renewal programme for our congregations for the last four decades welcomed the gathering and resource persons, and emphasized on the need of this kind of renewal programmes and the necessity of updating ourselves to the needs of the times, rooted in our charism. Rev. Dr. Jose Kuriedath, the General Councillor for Education and Communication made the inaugural address, where he highlighted the process, means and need of renewal of the congregation and explained of the special programme designed for Dharmaram.

On 8th and 9th we had several sessions from various experts, who gave fruitful inputs and directions on different fields of special attention of renewal. Fr. Kuriedath very well lead two sessions on blending of our prayer life and apostolic life, where he highlighted on the need of developing a special CMI religious charism for each individual, whereby one can engage in ministries which other religious and diocesan priests cannot do. He also emphasized on the need developing 'special ministries', meeting the challenges of the present day situations and suiting to our charism, which our founding fathers bequeathed for us. Rev. Fr. Jain Kuzhiyanimattathil shared his personal experiences on the 'Spirituality of Simple Life and Witnessing'. His input session, filled with lots of personal experiences of living a simple life was very much provoking and challenging to us. Fr. Cleetus Plackal handled a very fruitful session on the 'Holistic...', where he emphasized the need of special care for mother earth, especially by us CMIs, highlighting the special love of our founders for the nature, which prompted them to go for a vanavasa. he also gave a lot of simple practical suggestions for living a nature friendly CMI life.

The concluding session was well handled by Fr. Rector and the suggestions evolved in group discussions were edited and redrafted by Bro. Gregory Malayil, the General Beadle. In general, the renewal programme was very fruitful in making some radical reflections on our CMI life, our mission, vocation and its challenges. It was a very rare chance of doing it on the days of the Feast of our Immaculate Mother and the anniversary of our Canonical Foundation.
